Work Together To Create Lake Management At Its Finest

We Are A Non Profit Organization Supporting Organizations And Individuals Involved In The Responsible Management Of Freshwater Sources And Their Renewable Natural Resources
|
We were originally formed by a group of Highlands County central Florida citizens
concerned about freshwater lake management policy within their county and state.
We formed this organization for the purpose of working with county, state, federal,
and public organizations, to create an adaptive management strategy for each
individual lake and river in order to successfully handle Florida's rapidly changing
lake and river environments.
Many great organizations are presently in existence, working hand in hand with
government and other public organizations, however many are not engaged as
one team with representation at the state level in order to achieve their various
objectives and goals.
For this reason we endeavor to provide a coalition of like-minded conservationists
unified in a comprehensive platform designed by the people of Florida.
We realize success within the conservation community will require the combined
input and efforts from everyone currently involved in the many freshwater fishery
organizations already existing in Florida. We are not attempting to change or
circumvent the systems, methods or policies, already achieving various levels of
success.
Instead, we are attempting to unify all freshwater fishery conservation
organizations along with the public lake users in each county for the purpose of
having one voice, on shared issues, to present before the state legislature.
Every lake in all counties do have common challenges brought on by common
problems and likewise there are uncommon challenges created by uncommon
problems. This is the focus point that needs to be addressed by all who have the
responsibility of developing adaptive freshwater management strategies.
A precise comprehensive adaptive management strategy plan must be developed
that meets the needs as those needs are changed by "Us" -- the lake users. We
must participate with existing efforts and be a part of the solution -- today.

Our Purpose and Mission
1. Learn from each other the differences and similarities of
the various freshwater lake and river policies and plans -
research the common and uncommon data.
2. Compare the individual research data - design a
preliminary comparison draft upon which to build a plan.
3. Work the initial draft in real time and record the results.
4. Review the work results and repeat steps 1 - 3 of the purpose and mission
making adjustments, corrections, and additions, as real time conditions
change in organizations and aquatic habitats.
5. Adapt the existing plans and strategies to what is learned, compared, worked
and reviewed; a constant on-going formation of an adaptive management
plan for each individual freshwater body of water's requirements, as
established by the steps of our purpose and mission.
The current lake management agencies -- which work to serve the Florida lake
users -- currently design their plans in accordance with legislative parameters
that do allow for the points of our purpose and mission.
However, there are many areas of management which are not being adequately
addressed due to the rapid changing environments throughout the state and
the lack of real time parameters necessary for the agencies to work with -- the
result are -- they can't be as successful as they desire and need to be.
This is where we must step forward and participate by providing support and aid
for our public servants. We, as "One Voice" can arrive before the state
legislature in a timely fashion, using appropriate methods, seeking the changes
necessary to accomplish the goals which (in the end) we will help the agencies
set and accomplish from which all lake users benefit jointly.
